The Central Propaganda Department, the Central Party School, the Central Party History and Literature Research Institute, the Ministry of Education, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission held a theoretical seminar to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Marx's birth in Beijing from May 4th to 6th. Delegates attended the commemorative meeting held by the CPC Central Committee and listened to the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping. On the morning of the 6th, Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Central Secretariat, attended the theoretical seminar and delivered a speech. He said that it is necessary to conscientiously study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the conference commemorating the 200th anniversary of Marx's birth, strengthen the study and research of Marxism, and provide theoretical support for winning the great victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
Mr. Pang Jinju, member of the Central Advisory Committee on Marxist Theory Research and Construction Engineering, director of Center for Studies of Political Economy, Nankai University; Wang Xinsheng, Changjiang scholar distinguished professor, dean of the School of Marxism of Nankai University, were invited to attend the conference and theoretical seminar commemorating the 200th anniversary of Marx's birth in Beijing. Pang Jinju and Wang Xinsheng submitted papers Historical Significance and Contemporary Value of Marxist Political Economy and World Conception and Action Plan of Contemporary Chinese Marxism-Xi Jinping's Thought of Building a Community of Human Destiny Inherited and Developed Historical Materialism to the theoretical seminar respectively.
