On June 2nd, Retrospect and Prospect of Socialist Economic Reform and Development with Chinese Characteristics-Symposium to Commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up was held in the Xingsheng Building of Nankai University. Experts and scholars from universities and research institutes such as Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nankai University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Center for International Economic Exchange, China Population Society, etc. gathered together to exchange theoretical experience of socialist economic construction with Chinese characteristics and discuss China's economic development plan. Many scholars from the Center attended the meeting.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Jing Weimin, Executive Deputy Director of Collaborative Innovation Center for China Economy. Researcher Yang Qingshan, Party Secretary of Nankai University; Professor Pang Jinju of School of Economics of Nankai University, Director of Center for Studies of Political Economy of Nankai University; Researcher Gao Peiyong, Member of Faculty of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Director of Institute of Economics, Editor-in-Chief of Economic Research, distinguished professor of Changjiang Scholar of Ministry of Education, and Professor Sheng Bin, Dean of School of Economics of Nankai University delivered speeches successively.
