On October 26-27, the 33rd National Symposium on Socialist Economic Theory and Practice was held in Nankai University. Six economists were awarded the Fourth Xinghua Excellent Paper Award.

Chen Zhemin, member of the Standing Committee of Tianjin Municipal Committee and Minister of Propaganda Department; Yang Qingshan, Party Secretary of Nankai University; Hong Yinxing, professor of Nanjing University, leader of the leading group of the national seminar on socialist economic theory and practice in colleges and universities; Liu Wei, chairman of the Teaching Steering Committee of economics majors in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education and president of Renmin University of China; Wu Xuangong, consultant of the leading group of the national seminar on socialist economic theory and practice in colleges and universities and professor of Xiamen University. Huang Taiyan, Secretary General of the leading group of the national symposium on socialist economic theory and practice in colleges and universities, president of the Central University for Nationalities, and Pang Jinju, director of the Center for Studies of Political Economy  of Nankai University and chair professor of Nankai University, attended the opening ceremony of the conference.
